Modem

1.      Modem
Modem is a device to connect your computer to a telephone line and the Internet. Modem stands for modulator demodulator. It changes digital signals to modulated analog ones and vice versa. How are the data transferred? When your computer sends digital data to the Internet, the modem will change the digital signals to analog ones so they can be transmitted via a telephone cable. When the data reach the recipients, the modem will change the analog signals from telephone cable to digital signals that can be read by computers.
There are two types of modem: internal and eksternal. Internal modem is a modem that is directly installed on the computer mainboard, while external modem is a modem that is detached from the computer. An external modem is connected to a computer using wires.

What are the advantages of both modems? An internal modem internal is cheaper in price but its installation is more difficult and it cannot be moved from one computer to another (the CPU casing should be opened). An external modem is easy to install and can be moved from one computer to another easily (without opening the CPU casing).
